Astarta reduced sugar sales by 27%
Sugar sales by Astarta-Kyiv during the fourth quarter of 2017 amounted to 110,900 tonnes, which is 27% less than during the same period of 2016. At the same time, the average sales price of sugar decreased by 9%.

Ukraine’s biggest corn growers are reluctant to expand production. Mriya and Nibulon are even planning to reduce corn plantings by at least 17 % in the upcoming season due to unfavorable producer prices for corn. A part of the problem is that exporters are facing fierce competition from Brazil.

Farm acquisitions to be more transparent in Australia
News -New changes to federal laws are designed to make farm acquisitions more transparent in Australia. Local Australians are forced to advertise and inform through marketing that the farm is for sale. The reason for this change is the aim to give Australians more opportunities to purchase agricultural land ahead of foreigners. The concerns of the local population about foreigners owning farmland in Australia have become louder since 2015.

Nibulon launched a new processing line
News -The Ukrainian agroholding "Nibulon" launched a modern line for processing grain waste into fuel briquettes. The waste was generated as a result of cleaning and drying grain and sunflower seeds. In total, from 50 tonnes of waste it is possible to produce 40 tonnes of fuel briquettes and 477 kg of vegetable oil.

Ekotechnika AG increased its net profit in 2017
Ekotechnika AG, the German holding company of the largest international agricultural machinery dealer in Russia, the EkoNiva-Technika Group, generated consolidated sales of 148.1 million EUR in the 2016/17 financial year. This corresponds to an increase of 26.4% over the previous year (117.2 million EUR).

Large farms threatened by new animal welfare rules in the USA
A U.S. government decision aimed at reducing the animal welfare standards for organic poultry and meats, has created a dissatisfaction in the farm community. Many organic farms are against this decision to remove animal welfare standards from the national organic standards.
