Conaprole´s dairy conflict gets worse

News -

The conflict of the Uruguayan dairy cooperative Conaprole continues after the Association of Workers and Employees of Conaprole (AOEC) blocked the entry of private companies to the dairy cooperative's plants. This led to delays of milk delivery. Conaprole still has not reached a salary agreement with the dairy unions. The conflict threatens to spread to the rest of the companies in the sector, following a decision made by an assembly of the Federation of Workers of the Dairy Industry (FTIL) on Monday.

Fridevi S.A. exports meat to Japan

The meat producer Fridevi S.A. invested into the modernization of its plant in Viedma, Argentina to export meat from Argentina to Japan. The first shipment of 11 tonnes of meat to Japan will take place this month. Fridevi S.A. has been operating since 1983 in the Argentine region of Río Negro and currently processes more than 6,000 heads of cattle per month.

A large hatchery in China invests in modernization

News -

The world's biggest hatchery of layer chicks, situated in Handan, about 400 km south-west of Beijing, invested $ 30.6 million in modernization of its facilities. The modern highly-automated plant is owned by a joint venture between China's Huayu Agricultural Science and Technology Co Ltd and EW Group's genetics business Hy-Line International. About 400,000 chicks are hatched and 200,000 females are produced there every day to meet the demand from large farms who want to buy day-old-chicks.

Cygnet expanded its land bank to 29,000 hectares

Cygnet Agrocompany acquired the agricultural enterprise "Ruzhinskiy Krai" (in Zhytomyr region of Ukraine). Due to this transaction the land bank of Cygnet expanded to 29,000 hectares. Agrocomplex increased milk production by 21% in 2017

Agrocomplex named after Tkachev produced in 2017 171,000 tonnes of raw milk. In 2016, the output of milk was 141,000 tonnes. Thus, the production of milk increased during the past year by 21%. A mega-dairy loses its Waste Management Permit in Oregon

Lost Valley Farm, the second largest dairy in Oregon, US, has 60 days to remove its 13,000 cows and clean manure lagoons due to improper waste management practices. Lost Valley Farm has been in operation for only 15 months, however it has violated numerous waste management laws. Therefore, the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) has revoked the farm's waste management permit. According to Tillamook County Creamery Association the farm’s milk is characterized by low quality and unacceptably high levels of bacteria.

Almira owes UkrLandFarming $ 1.5 million

News -

250 employees of the dairy farms of UkrLandFarming, the second largest landowner in Ukraine, started a protest against the milk processing plant Gadyachsyr. The reason for the protest is the fact that Gadyachsyr has not paid for the delivered milk from the farms "Veprik Plus", "Mlinovskiy Complex", "Burinskoye", and "Shishatskoye". The total sum of the debt amounts to UAH 40 million ($ 1.5 million). Gadyachsyr is a part of the vertically integrated dairy holding Almira, which includes 7 milk processing plants and 6 trading companies in Ukraine. According to the Director of the Eastern Cluster of UkrLandFarming, Yuriy Scherbak, the residents of the villages are outraged by the situation and demand that Gadyachsyr pays off its debts.
