Kernel plans to reduce the land bank to 560,000 hectares
News -In summer of 2017 Kernel absorbed Ukrainian Agrarian Investments and Agro Invest Ukraine, which resulted in the expansion of the land bank to 602,500 hectares. After the expected optimization of the land bank, the area under cultivation in 2018 is going to be reduced to 560,000 hectares.

Donskoy bekon launched two more pig complexes in Russia
News -The company Donskoy bekon, which is apart of the AIC "Don" (the Russian project of the German holding Tönnies), launched two more pig farms in the Voronezh region. The farms Rastykaylovka and Trostiansky were commissioned in late 2017. Each of them is designed for 2,500 sows.

Defenseless giants: how agroholdings struggle with theft
News -Agricultural business in Ukraine faces the problem of theft. Since agroholdings consist of many clusters located in different regions of the country, central offices have difficulties in monitoring managers on the farms. The most common theft prevention programs of agroholdings include video surveillance, sensors that control the use of fuel, grain availability in grain containers and soil depth in the field as well as GPS monitoring. The latter, having a connection with satellites, allows controlling the mileage, speed, fuel consumption, number of stops, place and volume of refueling of machinery.

Avangard plans to expand to the EU
News -Polish egg producers are concerned about competition with Ukraine after the European Commission allowed the Ukrainian company Avangard to export eggs to the EU. The share of imports of eggs and processed products from Ukraine to the EU is systematically increasing: at the end of 2014 it was 4%, and in 2016 - 50%.

HarvEast to invest $ 4 million in a seed factory
News -Agroholding HarvEast will launch a seed plant in the Donetsk region of Ukraine in August 2018. Investments before the launch will amount to $ 3 million. Additional investments in logistics and warehouse capacity will amount to another $ 1 million. The plant will produce seeds of sunflowers, peas, lentils, as well as of wheat and barley.

News -Lincolnshire Field Products operates 7,500 hectares in the UK. Since the average farmer in the UK operates 300-700 hectares, Lincolnshire Field Products can be called a large farm. The main activities of the company include crop growing (sugar beet, potatoes, vegetables, wheat). The annual turnover of the company is $ 55 million.

Kernel attracted a $ 100 million credit line
News -Kernel attracted a revolving pre-export credit line with a syndicate of European banks. The credit line with a limit of $ 100 million for 2.5 years will be used to replenish working capital in the export business in Ukraine.

Miratorg to invest 5.1 billion rubles in dairy farms in 2018
Bryansk Meat Company (part of Miratorg holding company) is going to increase the number of farms in the Kaluga region of Russia from 7 to 13 by the end of 2018. Total investment in business development in the region will amount to 5.1 billion rubles.

Vinnitsa agro-industrial group changed the owner
News -The Vinnitsa agro-industrial group changed its owner. Now 80% of the company belongs to LLC "Epicenter", a monopolist wholesaler of construction materials in Ukraine. Its owner is a Member of Parliament Alexander Gerega.

Criminal proceedings against Agrein closed
News -In December 2017, the Ukrainian courts removed the arrests from the property and corporate rights of the enterprises of the Agrein agroholding. The criminal proceedings against the agroholding were closed. During the last two years Agrein has been the largest supplier of corn and wheat under the forward contracts of Syngenta in Ukraine.
