Astarta to produce chickpeas
14 May 2019
Astarta-Kyiv, a Ukraine-based vertically integrated agroholding with farmland operations of 250,000 hectares, has sown 42 hectares with chickpeas at one of its subsidiaries in the Vinnytsia region. Back in 2018, the agroholding reported about the intention to start cultivating chickpeas, lentils and peas. Since chickpeas nurture soil with organic nitrogen, Astarta expects to reduce fertilizer input on the areas under chickpeas provided the crop proves to be profitable.
