Cherkizovo increased turkey meat price 22%

15 July 2019

Cherkizovo Group, the largest meat producer in Russia, increased the average selling price of turkey meat 22% in Q2 2019, compared to Q2 2018. The main reason behind the price increase is the reduction in turkey production by Cherkizovo 15% to 8,900 tonnes in Q2 2019, compared to Q2 2018.

Also, Cherkizovo increased the average selling price of broiler meat 8% in 2019, compared to 2018. At the same time, the company reported a 31% increase in the sales of broiler meat to 171,500 tonnes in Q2 2019, compared to the same period last year. The sales growth is due to the launch of the Altai Broiler farm, acquired by Cherkizovo in late 2018. The price of pork decreased 3%, due to a 7% increase in meat production in Q2 2019.

Cherkizovo Group operates nine poultry farms, 16 pig farms, eight meat processing plants, as well as nine feed mills and more than 287,000 hectares of farmland. In 2018, the company increased meat production by more than 47,000 tonnes up to 702,100 tonnes in slaughter weight. The company’s revenue in 2018 rose 13.5% to RUB 102.6 billion ($ 1.45 billion), while net profit doubled to RUB 12 billion ($ 169 million).
