Damate to invest $30 million in lamb production

Damate Group, a Russia-based agroholding, intends to invest RUB 2 billion ($30 million) in lamb production in the Stavropol region of Russia. The company plans to launch a feedlot for 32,000 heads, a slaughterhouse with a capacity of up to 400 heads per hour and a processing plant with a capacity of 96 tonnes of lamb meat per hour. The annual production volume is expected to reach 15,000 tonnes in dressed weight. The project is to be implemented within 1.5 years.
Damate expects to supply lamb meat to the Russian market, as well as to export it to the countries of Middle East and North Africa. According to the Stavropol regional administration, the implementation of the project will allow to increase the number of sheep livestock in the region from 2 million to 3 million heads.
