Miratorg to abolish construction of pig farms in Kursk region due to protests of local dwellers
11 February 2020
Miratorg, Russia’s largest meat producer, decided to stop the project aimed at construction of seven new pig farms in the Kursk region due to the protests of local communities. The local dwellers do not want to live near the production sites and are concerned about the possible negative impacts of the pig farms for the environment. Currently, Miratorg operates 35 pig farms in the region. The construction under this project worth $102.6 million will be moved to the Bryansk and Oryol regions.
