25 March 2020

Nibulon, one of Ukraine’s leading agroholdings, reports that its lab equipment is able to identify coronavirus COVID-19 in the human blood using the PCR method. Initially, the equipment (CFX96 TouchReal-Time PCR DetectionSystem amplifier) was designed and used to detect the presence of GMO in crops. Nibulon plans to further work on the idea of testing people for coronavirus in the region of its operations.

For this purpose, the company has already purchased 200 reagents needed to make tests. Nibulon emphasizes that testing capacity and the quality of equipment in the regional medical institutions across Ukraine is not sufficient. Meanwhile, one lab machine at Nibulon is able to test up to 400 samples per day at net price of $27 per sample.
