Rusagro confirmed the FMD infection at its pig farm

Rusagro Group, Russia’s third largest pork producer, reported on the detection of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) at one of the farms of its Rusagro-Primorie subsidiary in the Primorsky region of Russia. Thus, the company has taken quarantine measures and will destruct 481 pigs at that farm.

Rusagro has been investing in the Rusagro Primorie subsidiary since 2016. The current production capacity of the subsidiary is 82,000 tonnes of pork per year. The volume of investment in Rusagro Primorie is to reach RUB 27.7 billion ($413 million) by 2021.

In 2017, Rusagro Group produced 207,400 tonnes of pigs in live weight, which accounted for 5.4% of pigs produced by corporate farms in Russia. Rusagro Group is the third largest farmland owner in Russia with 675,000 hectares of farmland in operation.
