Steppe agroholding to launch cheese production

Steppe agroholding, an agricultural subsidiary of Russia-based AFK Sistema Corporation, acquired the Orlovsky dairy plant in the Rostov region of Russia. The company intends to produce cheese, butter and dairy products. The dairy plant is the first milk-processing asset of Steppe. The plant’s revenue amounted to RUB 138.6 million ($ 2.18 million) in 2017, while the profit was about RUB 1.2 million ($ 18,900).
In 2018, Steppe produced 46,500 tonnes of raw milk, an 18% increase compared to 2017. By 2023, the company plans to launch two more dairy farms with a capacity of about 3,000 dairy cows each, which will increase Steppe’s milk production to 120,000 tonnes per year.
