Switzerland to vote on factory farming ban
23 September 2019
Swiss citizens are going to vote on a possible ban on factory farming after the “No factory farming in Switzerland” campaign collected over 100,000 signatures countrywide urging the government to declare intensive farming illegal. Supporters of the ban claim that factory farming is unacceptable, as it does not ensure the principles of animal welfare and is associated with climate change. In the nearest future, Swiss government is expected to set a date for a nationwide vote.
The “No factory farming in Switzerland” initiative was launched in 2018, with a mission to improve animal welfare in Switzerland by outlawing intensive farming.
