Top 5 Russian agroholdings operate over 3.8 million hectares

Russian consulting agency BEFL has released a new ranking of the top Russian agroholdings based on farmland area in operation. The 2020-list includes 61 large-scale agricultural producers operating 14.2 million hectares in total. Interestingly, 49 companies from the list have over 100,000 hectares under control, while the rest 12 companies operate around 100,000 hectares each.
Top 5 companies in the ranking remained unchanged as compared to the last year’s ranking: Miratorg, Prodimex, Agrocomplex, Rusagro, and EkoNiva. In a year-over-year comparison, their total farmland increased by almost 140,000 hectares to reach 3.8 million hectares.
Over the last seven years, the number of agroholdings of more than 100,000 hectares in size has doubled in Russia.
