Ukraine: 8 million hectares of farmland in shadow

The Parliament of Ukraine disclosed that the scale of shadow farmland market in Ukraine comprises 8 million hectares. These farmland areas are operated illegally, bringing no taxes to the state or local budgets. The lately adopted law on farmland sales aims to regulate farmland use and formalize farmland relations in the country. In 2021, land sales will become available for individuals/natural persons only while legal entities will get access to land market starting January 2024.
