JBS imports corn from Argentina

JBS SA, the Brazil-based meat producer, purchased the first batch of corn in volume of 30,000 tonnes from Argentina in 2019 for its production needs, the source reports. The main drivers behind this purchase are the high transportation costs of local corn, which make its price uncompetitive. JBS plans to continue purchasing corn from Argentina this year. In 2018, the company reportedly imported up to 175,000 tonnes of corn.
