Kernel acquired Rail Transit Cargo Ukraine

Kernel, the world’s leading and Ukraine’s largest sunflower oil producer, purchased Rail Transit Cargo Ukraine (RTC-Ukraine) for $ 64 million. RTC-Ukraine owns 2,949 grain hoppers, thus occupying 15% of the market share and being the second largest market player after the state-owned Ukrzaliznytsia. The acquisition will estimatedly increase Kernel’s EBITDA by $ 20 million per year.
This year, Kernel expects record volumes of 8 million tonnes of grain exports and a doubling of transshipment capacity after the commissioning of a new terminal in the Chernomorsk seaport. With the acquisition of RTC- Ukraine, Kernel aims to reduce ever-growing logistics costs.
