Kernel to receive $56 million from EBRD and World Bank

Kernel, the world’s leading sunflower oil producer, will receive $48 million from EBRD for construction of biomass power plants in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Poltava regions of Ukraine. Also, $8 million will be raised from the World Bank’s Clean Technology Fund. The key driver behind this investment decision is the reduction of carbon intensity in Ukraine’s energy sector. The plants are expected to process 228,000 tonnes of sunflower husks into 338,500 megawatts of energy annually.
