Miratorg launched genomic selection center

Miratorg, Russia’s largest pork and beef producer, reports to have launched an innovative genomic selection center, which aims to study pig and cattle genomes. The facility’s operating budget equals $ 68.4 million (RUB 4.4 billion). With the expected performance of about 400 DNA-studies per year, the center is to join the world’s top 5 leading centers for pig genome research. The launch of this project will allow Miratorg to forecast the breeding value of animals, as well as to improve their breeding qualities.
