Miratorg to produce wagyu beef

03 January 2019

Miratorg, the largest beef producer in Russia, will invest RUB 1 billion ($14.6 million) in the production of wagyu beef. The company plans to breed Japanese wagyu cattle with Aberdeen Angus cattle, in order to produce the high-grade meat with extensive marbling. The wagyu farm will be built in the Kaluga region of Russia. Its expected capacity is to exceed 2,000 calves per year. With the launch of the wagyu farm, Miratorg plans to strengthen its position on the Russian market for premium meet.

In January-September 2018, Miratorg produced 77,000 tonnes of beef, which is 35% more than in the same period of 2017.
