Organic Dairy Scorecard helps differentiate between large and small farms

A new study, The Industrialization of Organic Dairy, published by The Cornucopia Institute, helps consumers identify organic dairy products produced by large scale and small scale farms in the US. The report provides a scorecard enabling consumers to review brands for their overall sustainability and adherence to truly organic standards. The scorecard is based on a point system addressing different criteria from a brand’s ownership structure, to milk supplier, how often cows are milked, the health and longevity of a farm’s cattle, whether cows are grass fed, antibiotic and hormone usage, and more. Consumers are encouraged to use the scorecard for their purchases.
