Mriya agroholding may be acquired by an international investor
News -Mriya agroholding received an acquisition offer from an international strategic investor. The offer involves the fulfilment of a number of conditions, including successful completion of restructuring of the company and its subsidiaries, as well as obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals. Mriya's total debt is estimated at $ 1,087 billion. The restructuring procedure should help to reduce the total debt to $ 330 million.

BrasilAgro to sell a farm for $ 44.1 million

Bolzan´s Biodiesel Plant accused of river contamination
News -Grupo Bolzan, a major agricultural producer in Argentina, is currently being accused of severe environmental pollution by its Biodiesel production plant located in the region of Negoyá. The community reports untreated waste with strong foul odor going directly to the nearby water streams. Now the village residents living in the vicinity of the plant are questioning the benefits of this industry to their community due to this situation.

Initiative launched to ban factory farming in Switzerland
News -The “No factory farming in Switzerland” initiative was launched by animal rights groups and environmental organizations to ban intensive, industrial-scale livestock farming in Switzerland. In order for the initiative to be accepted by the government 100,000 valid signatures need to be collected within the next 18 months. The aim of the initiative is to define criteria for animal-friendly housing and access to the outdoors, as well as to limit the maximum number of animals per farm.

Bolthouse Farms implements autonomous tractor concepts
News -The California-based Bolthouse Farms, one of the largest carrot producers in North America operating across four US states and Canada, collaborates with CNH Industrial, a leading producer of agricultural machinery worldwide, to implement pilot programmes to study autonomous vehicles in real life farming situations. The goal is to understand how autonomous technology can be used in large scale farming. For this, a small fleet of autonomous Quadtrac tractors pulling various cultivators will be used.

Problems with Adecoagro's purchase of SanCor continue
News -The Argentine agribusiness company Adecoagro, which is interested in purchasing the Argentine dairy cooperative SanCor, is working on a payment plan to settle SanCor's debt of $ 2.5 million with the AFIP (Federal Administration of Public Revenues). Adecoagro tried to take over SanCor's debt. However, the negotiations between Adecoagro and AFIP were not as successful as initially assumed, and this is an obstacle for the planned purchase transaction.

FCC to implement a joint investment project with China
News -The Kazakhstan-based Food Contract Corporation NC JSC (a subsidiary of agroholding KazAgro JSC) and the Chinese company CITIC Construction Co. Ltd. signed a memorandum of mutually beneficial cooperation. Within the framework of this agreement, the parties plan to implement a joint investment program worth 1 billion CNY ($ 156 million) in 2019 aiming at organizing meat exports from Kazakhstan to China, improving irrigation infrastructure on 1.5 million hectares in Kazakhstan and promoting the brand of Kazakh meat in China.
