Marfrig shuts down operations in Goiás

Marfrig, the world’s second-largest beef producer, has temporarily closed down the operations of its Minas refrigeration plant, located in the Brazilian state of Goiás, due to a fire that occurred last Friday. The causes and extent of the damage are being verified. Minas plant accounts for 4.5% of the company's total capacity in Brazil. The company intends to redirect part of the production to its other plants. Marfrig operates another 14 cattle slaughtering plants in Brazil as well as five plants in Uruguay and Argentina.
