Large scale farms in Thailand proven to save costs and increase income

The Prime Minister General of Thailand, Prayut Chan-o-cha, stated that large scale farming allows farmers to form groups to increase negotiating power and income and strengthen production capacity and marketing process. The governmental large scale farming campaign 2015-2018 promotes the production of high-quality rice, while advocating unity and self-reliance among the farmers. Currently, the government is supervising 1,902 plots of large scale farms which cultivate over 384,000 hectares of land in 71 provinces. African swine fever detected in Romania's largest hog farm

An outbreak of deadly African swine fever has been confirmed at Romania's largest pig breeding farm. The farm complex, which consists of three adjoining properties, is located in the southern county of Braila and is owned by the company TEBU Consult. As a result of the outbreak, all 140,000 animals residing at the farms of the complex will be culled. According to the director of the Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Division of Braila, Gicu Dragan, the highly contagious virus might have been spread by river water, due to illegal disposal of corpses of infected pigs by some farmers into the river Danube.
